Our clients approached us to make alterations to the existing property with the goal of creating a sustainable, low-maintenance, and accessible home for lifelong enjoyment.
Upon inspecting the existing dwelling, it became evident that meeting current building regulations, living standards, and accessibility requirements would necessitate a complete overhaul. Such modifications were not practical and would compromise the overall quality of the home.
In contrast, constructing a new build dwelling offered significant advantages, allowing us to respond more effectively to site conditions—such as orientation, views, privacy, and safety—while also meeting the clients’ aspirations.
The proposed new dwelling will be of a much higher specification than the existing building, using sustainable materials and robust construction techniques. It will feature a high-performance thermal envelope designed to minimise environmental impact and embodied energy. Additionally, both passive and active systems will be integrated to optimise the home’s long-term energy efficiency and overall performance.
